BRIGHTON -- School District 27J staff and leaders from the cities of Brighton and Commerce City will gather at 1 p.m., Dec. 5, to celebrate the completion of a new pedestrian walkway for Prairie View high school and middle school students.
The ceremony will be on the east end of the walkway near Prairie View High School, 12909 E. 120th Ave. Speakers include 27J Superintendent Chris Fiedler, Brighton Mayor Dick McLean and Commerce City Mayor Sean Ford.
The walkway was a collaborative effort between the three entities. The city of Brighton constructed the asphalt path and the city of Commerce City handled the cost of construction. The completion of the walkway, located on a vacant piece of land at the northwest corner of 120th Avenue and Peoria Street, provides a long-needed safe
route for students walking to and from school along 120th Avenue.
