27J Foundation goes volunteer-only

-A A +A

BRIGHTON — The 27J Education Foundation board of directors has decided not to fill its vacant executive director position and will instead operate as a volunteer-run organization.
President Charles Zachemsky said operating as a fully volunteer-run organization will allow the foundation to be able to focus all of its financial resources on scholarships and grants to support the students and staff of School District 27J.
“I believe it makes a very powerful statement when we can tell those who choose to financially support the Foundation that every dollar they contribute will have an impact on the students and staff of our school district. Ultimately, that is the sole reason the 27J Education Foundation exists,” he said.
Former Executive Director Micki Gunning recently retired from the foundation.
“We thank Micki for her service and commitment to supporting education in School District 27J,” Zachemsky said.
With the change, the 27J Education Foundation has a new email address, 27JFoundation@sd27j.org, and eventually plans to have an improved web presence as well.
The Foundation is preparing for its sixth annual Celebrate the Future Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. March 5 at the Brighton Armory, 300 Strong St. For details, visit www.sd27j.org.
