BRIGHTON — A new orthopedics specialist joined the Mountain View Orthopedics team at Platte Valley Medical Center. Aaron Baxter, M.D. replaces Kosta Zinis, D.O., who left the practice in January to pursue an opportunity in Arizona.

Baxter is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements, resurfacing of the joint and the repair of deformities. He has performed hundreds of revisions for complex hip and knee replacements and says his job is very satisfying because he gets to help people walk again. He also enjoys the surgical aspect of the practice.

“We’re using advanced materials that will prolong the longevity of the implant — knees and hips — and we’re also using new minimally invasive approaches to help people recover quicker,” he said.

Since starting with the practice in February, Baxter has been meeting with his patients and getting to know his colleagues. He said everyone at the hospital has been very welcoming and that Brighton is a great community to practice medicine here.

“I love it here, it’s great,” Baxter said. “The staff that works here is super nice, and just the atmosphere at this hospital is kind of warm and comforting.”

Mountain View Orthopedics continues to expand its offerings for patients this year. The practice has recently opened a Complex Wound and Diabetic Foot Care Clinic, where patients are treated for diabetic foot issues and slow-to-heal or non-healing leg and foot wounds. The team conducts regular exams, shows patients how to practice optimal self-care  and keeps them informed about new treatment options.

Mountain View Orthopedics also expects to add another orthopedic surgeon, Laura D’Agostino M.D., to their team later this month. D’Agostino is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in diagnosing and treating hand and wrist injuries.
