BRIGHTON — After two days of the state 5A state track and field meet, Brighton High School claimed two, top-five finishes.

Brighton High School's Deziree Lipsett secured third place in the discus throw Thursday, May 15, at the meet at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.

Lipsett's second to the last throw of the meet measured 128 feet, 2 inches, which was her longest of the day. She followed it up with a 126-foot-1-inch toss on her third throw.

Katelyn Ellis tied the school record in the high jump at 5 feet 5 inches, which enabled her to take fourth place in the event May 16, also at Jeffco Stadium. A year ago, she was fourth. Two years ago, she didn't place because of a stiff neck.
