Brighton HS scores

Soccer

Brighton bounced Aurora Central 10-0 Thursday behind five goals and three from Ashley Contreras and four more tallies from Payton Bonino.

Goalkeeper Sara Day recorded the shutout and had two saves.

BHS and Poudre played to a scoreless draw Friday night in Fort Collins. Day recorded two saves in net for the Bulldogs.

Brighton shut out Prairie View 1-nil Saturday morning on the T-Hawks' field. Ashley Contreras scored the game's goal in the 64th minute.

PVHS had several scoring chances -- including three in the last three minutes of regulation time. The T-Hawks fired 20 shots at Sara Day. But none got past.

PVHS goalkeeper Haley Pachelo had eight saves.

Swimming

THORNTON -- Brighton's 4-by-200-yard freestyle team (Aaron Hewlett, Julian and Joseph Prieto and Leo Keefe) qualified for the state 5A swim meet at the Mountain Range Invitational Saturday in Thornton.

The squad finished eighth in a time of 1:35.12.

The 200-medley relay quartet of Chace Zeilstra, Chandler Johnson, Reece Carr and Carson Combs finished 21st in a time of 1:57.09.

The Bulldogs finished 21st in the meet. The state swim meet is May 18 and 19 in Grand Junction.

Baseball

Brighton beat Rangeview 7-1 Thursday afternoon. Caden Pratt had a double and two RBIs. James Smith and Ricky Lane also contributed RBIs. Brian Kelley picked up the win.

Brighton beat Prairie View 14-4 Saturday morning in Brighton. A six-run fourth inning sealed the deal for the Bulldogs.

Pratt had a double and three RBIs. James Smith had a double and an RBI. He also was the winning pitcher. Ty Archuleta had a double and three RBIs. Seth Aremtrout had a three-base hit and an RBI. Shane Golderman had a double and an RBI.

Prairie View's Jordan Jones had a double and two RBIs. Joseph Lubick had a double, and Clay Davis drove in a run for the T-Hawks.
