BRIGHTON — A new graphics design business and thrift store have opened in Brighton. Paramount Printing and Graphics and Mile High Buy opened for business in July and share a building at 15 Strong St.
James Briggs, who owns Paramount Printing and Graphics, decided to open the businesses in Brighton because it offered a prime location for Paramount Printing and Graphics to expand its business and had room for Mile High Buy to grow.
Briggs, was born and raised in Brighton, and has owned Paramount Printing in Westminster for the last four years. He decided to open a second location in Brighton because it would shorten the commute for many of the store’s customers who were traveling from Greeley to Westminster for business.
Paramount Printing and Graphics helps businesses with their marketing materials, such as business cards, logos, door hangers, vinyl stickers, banners and signs, along with vehicle wraps and graphics. Briggs said he wants to build his Brighton location the same way he built his Westminster location, “by offering the best quality and lowest prices so they can save money and advertise with quality.”
Briggs also owns the thrift store Mile High Buy with his business partner Kenny Salas. Briggs said the business originally opened in a small spot in Denver where they outgrew the space in about a month and needed a bigger location. Briggs and Salas have family and friends in the area who encouraged them to consider Brighton.
“We did some research and realized that Brighton would be a good place to open a thrift store, mainly because there’s not one up her and we have some roots up here and they said it would be a good place to open up,” he said.
Because the business is along Highway 85, they see new customers every day and Briggs said business has been “surprisingly better” than what they anticipated, which has been nice. He said area residents have also been grateful to have a thrift store in town again.
“Immediately after opening, we had a lot of people come in here and tell us how happy they were that we’re actually here in Brighton, they have an option to get used stuff cheap and not have to drive down to Thornton,” he said.
According to Briggs, the majority of their stock from estate auctions or liquidation sales but will also buy items from people if they’re looking to sell them. He said two unique features of Mile High Buy is that they accept offers on all of their merchandise and that they accept credit cards, because he doesn’t know of any thrift shops who currently do that.
