BRIGHTON — The Brighton Police Department has made three arrests in connection to several cases of vandalism at Carmichael Park.

Police Chief Clint Blackhurst on Tuesday, Feb. 18, said former school resource officers were able to use their connections with students to identify the three individuals involved. Two middle school students and a high school student were arrested on Friday.

“We hope that will be a deterrent for that kind of future behavior,” Blackhurst said.

The names of the minors have not been released.

From mid to late December the restrooms at Carmichael Park were subject to several instances of vandalism. Damage was done to the drinking fountain pipes as well as mirrors and light sensors inside the restroom. Rocks were torn from the exterior facade of the facility and a fire was set which damaged the interior walls of the restroom.
