BRIGHTON -- North Elementary School needs a new principal.

Rich Bucher turned in his resignation April 4. It was effective immediately. No reason was stated. Superintendent Chris Fiedler said he supported Bucher's decision.

27J spokesman Kevin Denke said Paula Redig, a retired school administrator, will begin work at the school Wednesday, April 9, and will serve for the remainder of the year. The search is on for Bucher's replacement.

Fiedler said school staff heard the news after school April 4. Students heard the news April 8.

"We will be conducting a search this spring to select a new principal for North for the 2014-2015 school year and beyond," Fiedler wrote to school parents. "Contact the office at North if you are interested in participating in the search process.
