ADAMS COUNTY -- Two Colorado State Patrol said two more of its squad cars were involved in a crash Jan. 11.
The crash toopk place around 9 p.m. as troopers were investigating a separate crash on the ramp from I-76 to northbound I-25.
The second crassh involved a Chevrolet truck, a Ford Crown Victoria and a Dodger Charger. Cpl. Heather Cobler said the truck collided with the Ford, which pushed the two cars into the Charger.
The troopers' vehicles -- the Dodge and the Ford -- were blocking the left lane of the exit ramp. Cobler said the emergency lights were working. The troopers were not in their cars. The driver of the truck, Keith Kilbey, 23, of Arvada was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
"It is unacceptable that troopers and their vehicles continue to be hit on our roadways." Cobler said in a statement. Drivers are required to move over or slow down upon approaching a stationary emergency vehicle.
"This time we were fortunate, but many officers across the nation are not so lucky," she said.
