Two people were injured March 18 after a semi-tractor tanker went off the road southeast of Brighton.
It happened around 6;15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-76 at E-470. Brighton Police Department spokesman John Bradley said the tanker went off the north side of the highway.
"The cab apparently detached from the trailer, and the truck ended up in the ditch," Bradley said.
Brighton fire rescue members had to free one of the two injured people from inside the cab. A medical helicopter took that person to an area hospital. There's no word on that person's condition or that of the other victim.
"It was a lengthy clean-up period," Bradley said. "Hazmat (crews) were called for a potential diesel fuel spill, and special tow trucks were called out to move the semi."
I-76 reopened to all traffic shortly after 12:30 p.m.
