BRIGHTON – As the filing deadline expired at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, eight individuals have filed to run for City Council or Mayor in the Nov. 5 Brighton municipal election.
Mayor Dick McLean and Ward II Councilman Rex Bell each filed for re-election for their respective offices; both will run unopposed on the November ballot.
In Ward III, Ken Kreutzer will be running unopposed in the race for the seat now held by Mayor Pro Tem Wayne Scott, who is term limited.
In Ward I, Councilman Chris Maslanik filed for re-election. He will face District 27J School Board President Joan Kniss, who also filed for the Ward I seat.
In Ward IV, Peter Phibbs, Mark Humbert and Dave Rose have filed petitions to run for Ward IV. The seat is currently held by Councilwoman Wilma Rose, who is term limited.
With all filings submitted, Brighton City Clerk Natalie Hoel said they will draw lots to determine ballot order on Aug. 27 and that council will approve the ballot content during its Sept. 3 meeting.
