Brighton firefighters contained a pair of small brush fires March 15.

The first burned three to four acres brush in the 14500 block of Riverdale Road around noon. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

A tweet from fire department spokesperson Natalie Ridderbos said a utility worker may have sparked a power line, which started the fire. The fire was contained shortly after noon.

Ridderbos' tweet also said crews protected one structure in dry and windy conditions.

Thornton firefighters assisted.

Shortly after 3 p.m., crews put out a one-acre fire near I-76 and E-470. Tweets from Ridderbos said the cause was unclear.
