Four T-Hawks earn state track and field berths

                  BRIGHTON – Prairie View qualified four members of its track teams to this weekend’s state 5A track and field meet at Jeffco Stadium, U.S. Highway 6 and Kipling Street.



                  Jordan Holm made it to state in two events. He has the 13th seed in the long jump with a best distance of 21-9 ¾. He’s in the first of two flights in the event tat starts at 11:30 a.m., May 15. Holm, a senior, also made it to state in the triple jump. He ha the 17th-best distance in the state at 43 feet 1 inch. He’s in the first flight of the triple jump, which starts at 8:30 a.m., May 17.

                  RJ Ramirez’s top time of 10.9 seconds in the 100-meter dash put him in the first of two heats in the event at state. The race begins at 9 a.m., May 15. Skyler Severance is in the state meet in the high jump. He has the 11th-best height in the state (6 feet 4 inches). The high jump starts at 8:30 a.m., May 15.

                  Aleksandra Anderson made it state in the 300-meter hurdles. She’s in the first of two hears in the event which begins at 10:55 a.m., May 16.

Both the boys and girls track teams at Prairie View High  School finished in the top four at this year’s Eastern Metro Athletic Conference league meet at Prairie View High School. The meet was spread out over three days because of poor weather.

                  Anderson captured a conference title in the 300-meter hurdles. The sophomore posted a time of 45.66 seconds.

                  Despite some loose blocks at the start, RJ Ramirez won the boys 100-meter dash in a time of 11.21 seconds. Severance won the boys high jump with a best effort of 6 feet 2 inches.
