Lineup for the inaugural Blues Blast announced

BRIGHTON — The heART of Brighton has announced the lineup for the inaugural Brighton Blues Blast, slated for May 31 and June 1 at the Armory.
    The Blues Blast will kick off Friday, May 31, with South African musicologist Brian Neumann, who will be mixing blues performance with a blues history lesson, according to a HeART of Brighton news release. Neumann will share the stage with the blues dancers group who will be offering lessons during the first hour of the event.
    Brighton-based TeraBlu Band/Mojoville will join the lineup Friday night along with Boulder-based guitarist and vocalist Jack Hadley. The Jack Hadley Band will include special guest Bob Lohr on keyboards.
    On Saturday, June 1, Boulder-based Johnny O Band will be opening for headliner Ruthie Foster. Foster is a nationally renowned blues musician and two time Grammy Award nominee. She is a recipient of the 2012 Blues Music Award for Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year, the 2012 Blues Music Award for DVD of the Year and a two-time recipient of the Koko Taylor Award for Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year. This year, she is once again nominated for the Koko Taylor Award for Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year.
    HeART of Brighton’s Brighton Blues Blast is made possible through the support of the City of Brighton and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. The Brighton Blues Blast committee was awarded $20,000 in grant funding from the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the city of Brighton to make the festival possible.
