BRIGHTON — Northeast Elementary School Music Teacher Bill Andrews was named teacher of the month by the Brighton Chamber of Commerce on Monday. Andrews has been teaching music at Northeast for the past 30 years and will be retiring this year.
Andrews was nominated by the school’s IB Coordinator Bill Parker, who said Andrews has touched the lives of 3,000 students in ways that few teachers could. Over his career, Andrews has had the opportunity to expose each of these students to the arts, one of a number of subjects that have been put on the back burner over the years.
Andrews has produced and presented hundreds of music and drama programs over the years where Northeast students has had the opportunity to perform in front of an audience to thrill of thousands of Brighton Families.
According to the nomination, the joy and pride that Andrews gives the students, the community and the district is awe-inspiring.
