Back in August 2010, Time magazine ran a cover story entitled “Is America Islamophobic?” Needless to say, they seemed to come to the conclusion that we are, regardless of the massive tolerance of the American people.
Why hasn’t Time, or any other magazine, ever asked: Is liberal American Americaphobic?
To experience what it means to be an American in America today, one need look no further than to those who have peacefully protested the building of a mosque near the location of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Imagine that you think something should not be built. Imagine that you make your thoughts known. Worse still, imagine that someone in a position of power wants to destroy you — your life — and your reputation just for thinking that way. That is Americaphobia.
In Albany, N.Y., an apartment management company told the residents to remove the American Flags from their units and vehicles as “someone might get offended.” In Texas a woman was told by her office supervisor to take down the American flag hanging in her office. That is Americaphobia.
The removal of the American flag from a campus bus was enforced at Lehigh University. Vice Provost John Seaton’s decision was to promote “understanding.” The school’s newspaper, The Brown and White, supported the ban by bringing up seemingly irrelevant issues such as Muslim heritage and Arab-Americans making contributions to society. They accused those who show patriotism of encouraging violence against Arab-Americans. That is Americaphobia.
U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill) said of American troops in Guantanamo: “…you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis...” That is Americaphobia.
No apology from Richard Durbin to the men and women he impugned. No apology to the American people in general for comparing them to the Third Reich.
Jay Bennish, a Colorado school teacher, was recorded doing a 20-minute tirade in March of 2006 against everything in America, including then-President George W. Bush. However, the Colorado government approved of his remarks, including: “Who is probably the single most violent nation on planet Earth?! The United States of America!” That is Americaphobia.
In Minneapolis, the college of education created a task force to teach “the task force’s own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic.” That is Americaphobic.
Yes, we do teach Americaphobia in our public schools.
Former Cardinal Richard Roger Mahony of Los Angles (famous for the cover-up of the child molestation cases) compared the people of Arizona to Nazis and Russian Soviets because they wanted to protect their state from an invasion.
On May 1, 2010, a bomb was planted in Times Square, New York. Two days later, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said: “If I had to guess, 25 cents, this would be …homegrown maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn’t like the health care bill...” Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg is Americaphobic.
Liberals call Americans intolerant. Of who? Those who might want to destroy us, kill us, enslave us. Yes, I suppose that is a problem, unless of course you know what you are talking about. Tolerance is defined as “the ability to accept the existence of something while still disapproving of it.” As many Americans may not disapprove of Jews, racial minorities, homosexuals, people from other religions, cultures, nations or ethnic groups, they need not be tolerant.
Americaphobia is the most accepted phobia in this country. Say anything against the USA, and you will be accepted in the press, in schools, and universities as well as in Hollywood. Even while Americans show no signs of being violent to those they find different, Americaphobia is prominent. To paraphrase a Muslim-American writer, Arsalan Iftikhar, “You can always take a potshot at America or Americans — and get away with it.”
Why is Americaphobia intensifying? Perhaps because most Americans are decent people who allow liberals to shame them by calling them evil. So, the Americaphobes have learned exactly how to attack the American people in such a way that Americans either cannot or will not defend themselves. Americaphobia is the gift that keeps on taking. And, soon there will be nothing left for them to take. Our freedom, our dignity and all that made this a great nation will be gone.
Are liberal Americans Americaphobic? If not, I can not for the behavior I cited.
