Pine Creek blanks Brighton; Bulldogs' soccer season ends

COLORADO SPRINGS -- Pine Creek scored three times in the first 20 minutes May 6 and went on to shut out Brighton 4-0 in the first round of the state 5A girls soccer playoffs.


Mattie Cutts scored the first two goals for the Eagles. Jennifer Kahle scored, as did Jayne Lydiatt.

BHS mustered four shots on goal, and PCHS goalkeeper Jade Odom made all four saves. Brighton goalkeeper Jessica Baker made 11 saves, including a sprawling save in the 54th minute and another one in the 61st minute.

Pine Creek faces Grandview in the second round May 9. Brighton ended its season with a record of 8-8.
