Platte Valley Medical Center Foundation accepts $2,000 donation from Brighton Japanese American Association

BRIGHTON – The Brighton Japanese American Association presented the Platte Valley Medical Center Foundation with a $2,000 check to support the foundation’s Campaign for Women’s Services on Friday.

“Breast cancer has affected all of us, which is why we feel it’s important to support the hospital’s campaign to encourage 10,000 women to get a screening,” BJAA President Diane Dible said in a news release from PVMC. “I know there are a lot of people who need access to great medical care, which is why this cause is important to us.”

The Brighton Japanese American Association is one of the oldest associations in Brighton and has supported the hospital for more than 50 years.

“It is an honor to receive this gift from the members of BJAA,” Foundation Executive Director Marcie Demchuk said in the release. “Their support and advocacy for our current Women’s Services Campaign is greatly appreciated.”

Money from the BJAA for the PVMC Foundation comes from the organization’s annual shrimp and chow mein dinner. This year’s event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 24 at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

The cornerstones of the two-year Women’s Services Campaign include awareness campaigns, convenient access and follow up for mammography patients, the latest in digital mammography equipment and a nurse navigator to coordinate patient care.
