BRIGHTON — John Lyons Jr., grew up in South Philadelphia and started the South Philly Cheesesteaks eatery at the Pavilions with his family to bring the tradition of cheesesteaks to Brighton.
Lyons said he has fond memories of growing up in South Philly and hanging out in the pool room of a cheesesteak and hoagie shop. Although he moved to Brighton 23 years ago, it's been his lifelong dream to open up a restaurant with cheese steaks and hoagies.
“I know that this is something that Brighton needed,” he said, adding that the response from the community has been fantastic and that the first few weeks were a success thanks to the help of the franchise's owner, John Pinelli.
South Philly Cheesesteaks specializes in cheesesteaks, hoagies and other classic American deli fare. The restaurant, at 220 Pavilions Place, Suite A, is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
The restaurant will begin delivering food starting July 1, and orders can be placed by calling 303-558-0905.
