AURORA -- Brighton's Hailey Spratte has the fifth-fastest qualifying time in the 100-yard backstroke entering the girls state swimming meet.
Preliminary races begin at 4 p.m., Friday, at the Edora Pool and Ice Center, 1801 Riverside, Fort Collins. The finals are Saturday afternoon.
Spratte's fastest time in the 100- backstroke is 57.96 seconds, only 1.23 seconds behind the top seed, Shelly Drozda, of Mountain Range. Spratte also has the 25th-fastest time (1:59.97) in the 200-yard freestyle for Friday's preliminary round of the state 5A girls swim meet.
Brighton's 200-yard medley relay team drew the 30th seed in its race. The qualifying time was 1:58.58.
