ARVADA -- Brighton picked up one of its two needed wins Sunday to advance to the state 5A softball tournament. But the Bulldogs couldn't get past Eaglecrest in the state-qualifier game at Youth Memorial Park.
Eaglecrest beat BHS 5-1, ending Brighton's season. Earlier in the day, the Bulldogs completed a suspended game and beat Fort Collins 6-4.
Brighton managed to play more softball Saturday than a lot of other high school teams involved in regional tournaments.
But just like a lot of other teams, the rain got in the way of the Bulldogs' efforts. The weather suspended Brighton's elimination game against Fort Collins in the sixth innings.
A-West beat Brighton Saturday morning 5-4.
