Three schools in the Brighton 27J School District were on lockout for about 20 minutes Sept. 4 because of a police situation in the area, according to 27J district spokesman Kevin Denke.
Brighton High School and Vikan Middle School, together with Southeast Elementary School, were the affected schools. Police lifted the lockout around 2:30 p.m.
It was an early release day for 27J students. Denke said the lockout applied to techers and any students remaining in the affected buildings. He added everyone who was inside the buildings at the time of the lockout was safe.
The lockout also delayed release of staff and students from South Elementary School, Denke said.
