It happened shortly before 4 p.m. -- an hour or so after school let out for the day -- at Eighth Avenue and Egbert Street. 27J School District spokesman Kevin Denke said no students or staff from Brighton High School were involved.

Brighton Police Department spokesman John Bradley said a man driving a car northbound on Eighth Avenyue had a medical issue which caused him to become unconscious. Before the driver came to, Bradley said the car hit five parked cars.

Three people were injured, including the driver and his passenger. No names were available Tuesday morning. Denke said there was some damage to parked cars of staff members and some minor structural damage to the school building.

The extent of injuries and a potential cause were not known late Monday afternoon. Eighth Avenue was closed to thru traffic until police could clear up the debris.
