UPDATE: Snow closes Adams County offices, postpones Eagle View Adult Center opening

-A A +A

United Power scholarship deadline extended to Monday

The snow took its toll on events, celebrations and other events Friday.

United Power extended the deadline for scholarship and Steamboat Youth Camp applications to Feb. 6 because of the storm.

"We understand that several schools were planning on mailing out the application packets for students today, and the schools are closed due to the weather," said Heidi Storz, marketing and communication coordinator for United Power. "In addition, we don't want any parents or students trying to drive to our offices or the post office with the roads in their current condition."

Applications postmarked by the new deadline will be considered for all the relevant scholarship or camp opportunities. Call 303-637-1259 with questions.

Friday's grand opening celebration and Saturday's open house for the Eagle View Adult Center was called off because of the impending snowstorm. They will be rescheduled later.

Adams County government offices closed Friday because of the weather. They plan to reopen Monday.

The board of directors meeting for Bromley East Charter School was called off because of the impending poor weather. It was rescheduled for 6:30 p.m., Feb. 9, in the school cafeteria.

The weather also forced postponement of Friday's 5/6 dance. No make-up date was announced. And the school's HeArTs festival was rescheduled for March 14-15 (during conferences) from 4 to 8 p.m. each day.

Weather also canceled practices and games for youth basketball programs at the Brighton Recreation Center Friday and Saturday. Kids Night Out at the Brighton Recreation Center was canceled Friday night.
