Brighton Police Chief Clint Blackhurst promoted Sergeant Scott Wegscheider to patrol lieutenant on March 17.
Lt. Wegscheider now serves as the Support Services Lieutenant. He joined the Brighton Police Department as a police sergeant in September 1997 after leaving the Northglenn Police Department where he was a School Resource Officer.
Scott has supervised the Field Training Officer Program; School Resource Officers; Animal Control, Code Enforcement and police department training. His duties have also included the implementation of the Mobile Communications Command Unit; Graffiti Reduction Initiative; and Project Manager for Emergency Warning System and the Police Building remodel.
Scott has a distinguished record with the police department. He has been the recipient of the Brighton Police Distinguished Service three times; Brighton Police Commendable Service six times; Brighton City Manager’s Award in 2012; Northglenn Police Commendable Service six times; and the Northglenn Police Life Saving Medal two times.
