William “Bill” E. Lemke, 64, of Brighton, CO passed away April 3, 2014. He was born April 17, 1949, in Colorado Springs, to Alfred and Mavis (Dalen) Lemke, and married Sandra Yamada on Jan. 10, 1971, in Brighton.

 

   Bill graduated from Brighton High School in 1967 and continued his education, receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1971 and his master’s degree in business administration in 1975, both from the University of Colorado. While at CU he served two years in the ROTC program. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1973.

Bill started his career in accounting with Charles Taylor and Associates. He was a partner in the accounting firm of Taylor, Schmitz and Waidler, CPA’s of Boulder. In 1982 he opened Lemke, Feis & Company, CPA’s in Brighton, of which he was co-owner. Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as a past Board Member, Trustee of the Church and ushered with his sons and grandsons.

Bill was very involved in the Brighton community, where he had spent the majority of his life. He was a member of the Brighton Rotary, past JC Member, past Bank Board Member and was involved with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce.

In his free time he enjoyed playing golf and softball, fishing and traveling. He was a season ticket holder of the Colorado Avalanche of which he was a big fan. Bill loved his animals and they loved him. Time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren was Bill’s greatest joy.

Bill is survived by his mother, Mavis Lemke, of Brighton; wife, Sandy Lemke, of Brighton; three children, Chris (Trisha) Lemke, of Brighton, Scott (Sarah) Lemke, of Brighton and Jennifer (Alex) Stephenson, of Denver; two sisters, Patty (Dan) Aultman, of Florence, and Ginny (Bob) Bronaugh, of Silver Springs, Md.; brother, Rich (Judy) Lemke, of Johnstown; sister-in-law, Karen Lemke, of Brighton; five grandchildren, Jordan, Meghan, Zachary, Nicholas and Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al, in 1996 and his brother, Al, Jr. in 2006.

Memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church.
