  • Bolsons celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

       Lloyd and Kathy Bolson celebrated their 50th wedding  anniversary May 29, 2011.          
        Kathy was working at the burgerteria in Larned,  Kan., at the time they met. They married May 29, 1961, at the local Christian Church in Larned. They lived a few months in Larned before moving to Colorado and Brighton in 1978. 

  • Herzog wraps up Eagle Scout project

     

     

    Tyler Herzog, 17, from Boy Scout Troop 524 of Northglenn completed his Eagle Scout project at Benedict Park in Brighton May 7.
        He designed and constructed four horseshoe pits from the ground up.  His fellow Scouters, family and friends helped to make the project a success.  Tyler would like to thank the area businesses of Brighton that donated to make his project happen.
        Tyler is the son of Jeff and Sue Herzog of Brighton.
     

  • Zamora graduates from CU-Denver

        Felix and Janice Zamora proudly announce the graduation of their son, Felix Jacob Zamora, from the University of Colorado – Denver.

        Felix earned a bachelor of arts degree in geography along with a minor in geology and a certificate in Geographic Information Science.
         He will attend North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D., this fall where he has been selected for a research assistantship while he earns his master of science degree in environmental and conservation science.

  • McCorkle graduates basic training

         Air Force Reserve Airman Sean P. McCorkle graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
        He is the son of Shari Walker, of Colorado Springs, and Steve McCorkle, of Commerce City. McCorkle graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs in 2008.

        The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Macias graduates from Marine boot camp

         Pvt. Mario Macias graduated from Marine Corps boot camp June 3 at the Marine Corps recruiting depot in San Diego, Calif.

        His family includes parents Irasema and Jesus Gonzalez and the late Maria Macias. Sisters are Ariana Macias and Hope Gonzalez.
        He graduated from boot camp as a rifle expert. He will now go back to Camp Pendleton in San Diego for Marine combat training as part of LIMA Co., Third Battalion Platoon 3246.
     

  • Ayers to celebrate wedding anniversary

        Don and Irene Ayers, of Brighton, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary June 16.

        Irene was living in San Pablo, Calif., and Don was in the Navy, stationed in California, at the time they met. They married June 16, 1951, in San Pablo. They lived in Richmond, Calif., until they relocated to Brighton in 1971.

  • Whetstone completes training

        Air National Guard Airman Christina D. Whetstone graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

        Whetstone graduated from Adams City High School in 2004 and from Cambridge College in Aurora in 2007.
     

  • Hickerson twins turn 90

         The Hickerson twins, Martha Hickerson Flaherty, of Brighton, standing, and Mary Hickerson Kunselman, of Longmont, will turn 90 June 24, 2011.

         Help celebrate this wonderful birthday with a card and a memory. Greetings to both twins can be sent to Martha Flaherty, 293 N. 15th Ave., Brighton, CO, 80601. No gifts, please.

  • Baumgartners to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

        Robert and Sharon (Winn) Baumgartner, of Brighton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary June 10, 2011.
        Robert was raised in northeastern Colorado on the family farm and caught the eye of Sharon, a Brighton High School class of 1960 graduate, when he would fuel up his manure truck at the service station her father owned in town.  Sharon always made sure that she was “cleaning” the station on Saturdays when Robert was sure to show up.

  • Lindsey celebrates 100th birthday

        The years just flew, and before we knew, Brighton’s Annie Lindsey was 10 decades old.
        Join us for the birthday party of the century from 2 to 4 p.m., June 4, at the clubhouse of Eastgate Village, 3060 E. Bridge St., Brighton.
