  •     The April 22 Women In Touch meeting will feature DeeAnn Bragaw, of Loveland, who will present, “You’ve Got a Great Purse-a-nality.” This is all about the God-given gift of personality, illustrated with purses. it will be a fun and informative evening. She is a dynamic speaker, author and educator who touches her audiences with warm-hearted messages of hope.

  •     The Brighton Bloomin’ Buddies, which meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month, will gather April 20 at The Armory for a community planting of west bank. Come ready to dig in the dirt and make Brighton even more beautiful.

  •     Jason and Laura Funk, of Brighton, announce the birth of a daughter, Emberlynn Rose Funk. Emberlynn was born March 11, 2013, weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and measuring 20.5 inches.
        Grandparents are Troy and Andrew Trevena, of Brighton, and the late Cheryl Greenwald, of Denver.
        Great-grandparents are Ed and Mary Trevena, of Fort Collins, Wilma Davis, of Aurora, Bob and Rose Benson, of Denver, and Bob and Betty Funk, of Grand Junction.
        Emberlynn joins her sibling Eyan, 2, at home.

  • Four Brighton residents were sworn in as Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children earlier this year.
        Brenda Chavez-Rodriguez, Karla Fitch, Maria Vazquez and Melissa Owsely were among 26 volunteers from Adams and Broomfield counties were sworn in by 17th Judicial District Judges Patrick Murphy and Katherine Delgado Feb. 28 at the Broomfield Courthouse.

    Gary and Donna Howard, of Brighton, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Marie Howard to Corey Guildner, son of Kerry Guildner, of Bailey, and the late Virgil Guildner. A summer wedding is planned. Both are graduates of Fort Lupton High School.

  • BRIGHTON – A public meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Brighton Recreation Center to help determine the name of the city’s new BMX Park.

    The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has received a petition for naming the park Sugar Beet Bike Park and is inviting the public to attend the meeting to give input regarding the proposed name.

  •     The heART of Brighton is a not-for-profit organization looking for volunteers and potential board members. We are a group of community volunteers who raise funds for the Armory at Brighton Cultural Center to help Sponsor and market scientific, cultural, literary, visual and performing arts programs at the Armory and enhance the Armory facility.

  • Adams County earlier this month announced the winners of the 2013 4-H Creative Cooks Contest Feb. 23 at the Adams County Regional Park Complex. The winners will compete in the Colorado State Fair Creative Cooks Contest in August.

  • BreAnn and Tony Masiero, of Brighton, announce the birth of a daughter, Isabella Catalina Masiero. Isabella was born March 4, 2013, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton, weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and measuring 19.5 inches.
        Grandparents are Kim and Pat Farrell, of Brighton, Curtis and Lori Peltier, of California City, Calif., Tony and Reve Masiero, of Casper, Wyo., and Teresa Parsons, of Stidham, Okla. Great-grandparents are Alice and Don Mather, of Billings, Mont., and David and Sharron Vreugdenhil, of Stidham, Okla.
