Physical, mental training pays off for Lopez in state 800-meter run

LAKEWOOD – Brighton’s Rachael Lopez had to be wondering if the number “15” would ever leave her.

She finished 15th in the 800-meters at the state meet two years. She was 15th in the same race last year. She was part of this year’s girls 4-by-800-meter relay team (the other members were Kaila Green, Leo Solano and Abigail Smidt) that, yes, placed 15th.
