  • Hoopes for Adams County commissioner

    Editor:
As the time for the primary balloting draws near for Adams County candidates, I am writing to ask a special favor of my many Republican friends. Please mark your ballots for Kaarl Hoopes for District 1 Adams County Commissioner.

  • Credit where credit’s due

    Editor:
Last week I submitted a letter regarding a rude estate sale shopper. In the interest of fairness, I need to apologize to an actual business owner.
I have since learned that a person who says, “I have a little antique business,” does not necessarily translate to, “I am the owner of an antique shop in town.”

  • Rude shopper ruins estate sale

    Editor:
What the heck is wrong with people? I’ve been doing estate/garage sales in town over the years and other than some petty thievery, it’s always been fun — until last Saturday.

  • Help keep our parks, trails clean this summer

    Editor:
Thank you to the Parks and Recreation Department of the city of Brighton for an opportunity to participate in the trail and parks maintenance this summer.
There are 26 miles of maintained trails in Brighton, and we have 29 parks consisting of more than 300 acres. We are indeed a city which enjoys outdoor activities for our families and children. However, this does create a lot of maintenance challenges for city employees. Here is where you and I and our civic and religious organizations can help.

  • Exit ramp blockage causing headaches

    Editor:
I am a concerned and aggravated citizen of Brighton, and I know I am not the only one!
Time and again, when going home from King Soopers, Walmart or other stores on Bromley, I get on US-85. When there is a train going through, the eastbound traffic on Highway 7 is backed up and the cars block the exit ramp so that many drivers cannot cross over, go around the circle and head west on Highway 7.

  • Thanks for a great season

    Editor:
Congratulations to the Brighton High School baseball team and their coaches.
What a pleasure to attend the games and watch a team that truly played as a  team.  Their 17-0 league record was a testament to this.  The team was well  coached in the fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship and support for one  another.
This is one of the best coaching staffs that Brighton has ever put together.

  • Prochada family thanks community for support

    Editor:
A year has passed since our daughters, Lizzie and Lilly, were in a car accident. Since the day of the accident we have faced many trials and received many blessings.

  • DA shooting decision ‘makes no sense’ to her, either

    Editor:
I just had to write in agreement with Rudy Chavez on the article he wrote, “Decision on shooting makes no sense.”
Who wants a stranger taking pictures? I sure wouldn’t. When I first read the killing article, I thought hate for the poor homeless, people down on their luck, just doing the best with what they had.
Hate crime. That is what it is. Nothing less.

  • Decision on shooting makes no sense

    Editor,
Congratulations goes out to the Brighton Police Department and the office of the district attorney.
You have created the city of Brighton to become another Zimmerman case.
Help me to understand how it is possible to shoot and kill a defenseless man three times at point blank range and not call it murder?
