Leonard A. Brandt

    Leonard A. Brandt, 85, of Brighton, passed away May 26, 2013. Born January 24, 1928 in Denver, CO to Herman and Susie (Erdman) Brandt, he graduated from Manual High School in 1946 and married Ann Harvey on September 30, 1952 in Denver.
    Leonard worked for the Conoco Refinery for 38 years and built homes in the Lakewood area for 12 years.
    He enjoyed woodworking, farming and driving his tractor. He loved spending time with his wife and and children.

Esther A. Flemmer

    Esther A. Flemmer, born September 24, 1931, in Tenvik, ND, to Jacob and Rosa Beck, died May 26, 2013, in Brighton, Colorado, at the age of 81.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Erwin J. Flemmer.

Enrique Neri

    Enrique Neri, 75, of Brighton, passed away May 27, 2013. He was born August 15, 1937 in Mexico to Faustino Neri and Juanita Rodriguez.
    Rosary service was held May 30 at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home. Memorial Mass followed May 31 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Brighton.
    Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

 

Ronald Eugene Thornton

    Ronald Eugene Thornton, 78, passed peacefully on May 24, 2013, from his earthly existence to his heavenly promise. He was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in Tulare, Calif., but spent most of his life in the Chicago land area. He spent his last days surrounded by loving family in Lochbuie.

Mary M. Dunnuck

    Mary M. Dunnuck was born April 14, 1917, to Abraham L. and Hattie Eva (Fosnot) Frye on Redlands Mesa near Hotchkiss. She was the youngest of nine siblings. Her family moved to the Ft. Lupton area when Mary was 4 years old. She grew up on a farm, loving to ride horses bareback around the countryside.

Hazel Mae Kramer

Hazel M. Kramer, 83, of Commerce City, passed away May 30, 2013, in Lafayette. Born June 10, 1929, in Brighton to John and Mabel (Carlson) Karich, she attended school in Brighton and later married Joseph Kramer on July 15, 1950 in Denver.
    Hazel was a housewife and drove school buses for Adams County District 14 for 12 years. She enjoyed homemaking, crocheting and cooking. She also enjoyed fishing and camping and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Dorothy A. Devine

Dorothy A. Devine, 81, of Thornton, passed away May 28, 2013 in Broomfield.  Born June 13, 1931 in Denver, CO to Ross and Regina (Stegman) Sherley, she attended schools in Brighton.

Effie Fay Knoll

    Effie Fay Knoll, 93, of Thornton, passed away May 27, 2013. She was born March 7, 1920, in Weldona, to Carl and Mabel (Williams) Avey. She attended Sunnyside Schools near Weldona and later married Vearl Knoll on April 2, 1938.
    Effie was homemaker for the majority of her life who enjoyed her garden and quilting, especially for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Volleyball clinic June 23

    Five Star Volleyball Club hosts a youth skills clinic from 1 to 4 p.m., June 23, as a fundraiser for the clubs 17 Black team that will participate in the Junior Olympics Championships in Dallas at the end of June. The clinic is at Bromley East Charter School, 756 Longspur Drive. Clinicians are members of the club coaching staff and the 17 Black team. Cost is $25. The clinic is designed for third- through eighth-grade boys and girls. Visit fivestarvbc.com.
 
 

Volleyball tournaments start June 16

    Five Star Volleyball Club plans to host three outdoor summer tournaments. Dates are June 16, July 14 and Aug. 4, and all will be at Bromley East Charter School In Brighton, 356 Longspur Drive.
