Anthony Day Contributing writer     BRIGHTON — The 2012 NFL draft kicked off April 26, and local fans had high expectations for the Denver Broncos and the new regime’s second draft.     “I expect the Broncos to knock this draft out of the ballpark,” Jake Winfield insisted, “I have no doubt that we will get the best players available.”

Anthony Day Contributing writer     HENDERSON — Brighton’s third annual Little Britches Rodeo is set to take place again this year. It’s June 2 and 3 at the Adams County Fairgrounds.     This event is free to the public, but if you plan on participating, the contestants have to pay a fee for each event they enter. Almost 80 people were in last year’s rodeo vying for cash and prizes.

    The Brighton Bulldog 14U competitive baseball team won the Division 2 Triple Crown baseball tournament the first weekend in April.     Brighton beat Hitstreak Elite 10-5 in the quarterfinals and beat Eaton 8-2 in the semifinals. The championship game was a 6-0 win against Colorado Extreme from Fort Collins.
