HIGHLANDS RANCH -- Prairie View's Lindsay Miller will play in next week's state 5A tennis tournament at the Gates Tennis Center in Denver.
Hannah Clack of Pine Creek beat Miller 6-1, 6-1 for the regional title. Miller's second-place finish got her into the state meet next week.
It's the first time in the six-year history of the school that anyone from Prairie View qualified for the state tennis championships.
Bree Backer qualified for the playback round Thursday morning at No. 3 singles. She lost her match in straight sets and placed fourth.
Prairie View's No. 1 doubles team (Sydney Schafer and Amandine Coppens) also qualified for the playback round but lost their match Thursday morning in straight sets to place fourth.
“I'm really proud of our girls this year,” PVHS coach Randall said before this week's regional tournament. “They've had a lot of heart and determination winning tough matches by digging their heels in.”
