Brighton started out its Sept. 12 game against Chatfield in good shape. But the Chargers scored 21 unanswered points to close out the first half and beat the Bulldogs 42-10 at Jeffco Stadium.

Alex Griffeth and Eli Bowman connected on a first-half scoring play for BHS" only touchdown. Malcolm Boyd scored twice in the third quarter for CHS. Quarterback Matt Canino scored a rushing touchdown and threw for two more. 


Brighton's Tori Haug threw a no-hitter as Brighton shut out Legend 10-0 in Brighton Sept. 10. Haug struck out seven and walked a pair. Lexi Apodaca, Chloe doyle and Sarah Tiffany had two doubles. apodaca and Doyle drove in three runs.

Sarah Tiffany homered, and Apodaca drove in a run with a base hit as the Bulldogs beat Northglenn 10-0 in Brighton Sept. 12. Haug finished with three RBIs. Tiffany had three hits and drove in two runs.

Haug also threw a complete game at the Norse and struck out four.

Eaglecrest pushed over a run in the sixth inning to beat Brighton 9-8 in Brighton Sept. 14. Angel Mollel had two base hits and three RBIs. Sarah Tiffany had three hits. Haug struck out six in seven innings.


Fairview beat Brighton 25-12, 25-16, 24-26, 25-15 in Brighton Sept. 12. Teryn Kidd led the offense with 10 kills. Olivia Wilson added eight, and Kamrin Rostenbach had six kills. Maura Sharp led the Knights with 14 kills. Grace Andrews added a dozen.

BHS won one of four matches at a tournament at Eaglecrest High School Sept. 14. Legacy slipped past the Bulldogs 25-15, 20-25, 15-13. Kidd and Bo French led BHS' offense with eight kills.

Brighton beat Fossil Ridge 25-15, 23-25, 17-15. Kamrin Rostenbach had five kills for BHS. Keilani Infante and Kidd added four.

Eaton beat the Bulldogs 25-14, 25-18. Rostenbach had five kills for Brighton. Pine Creek downed the Bulldogs 25-7, 25-19. Ifante contributed three kills to the Bulldogs' cause. 

Cross country

GRANBY -- Brighton's Chase Addison took ninth place at the Snow Mountain Ranch Invitational Sept. 14. His time was 19:27. Max Weber (11th, 19:36), Austin Hill (14th, 19:54), Joshua Hill (20th, 20:31) and Ryan Green (25th, 20:50) were the other point producers for BHS. The Bulldogs were third in the team standings.

McKenna Yates was third in the girls race. She finished with a time of 21:30. Others to finish in the top five -- as a team -- for Brighton were Mallorie Estes (17th, 23:32), Abigail Read (18th, 23:38), Chandler Hand (22nd, 24:19) and Holly Poole (28th, 25:19).

BHS was second in the team standings.
