Neither Prairie View nor Brighton high schools could come away with wins in their season openers Aug. 29.

Horizon stopped the ThunderHawks 32-18 at Adams 14 North Area Stadium in Westminster. The Hawks scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to rally for the win.

Ayden Karraker threw a pair of touchdown passes (56 and 70 yards) to Jacob Dinkel. Tavish Whelan had a receiving touchdown, and Torin Saldivar returned an interception for a score for Prairie View.

Rocky Mountain scored the game's first 21 points and beat Brighton 34-7 in Brighton. The Lobos' Alex Kinney, who's been recruited by the University of Colorado, kicked a 56-yard field goal. Josh Rhead scored a pair of touchdowns for RMHS. Quarterback Brady Jacovetta plowed in from the 1-yard line for the Bulldogs' score in the first quarter.

We'll have more on both games in Wednesday's edition of the Brighton Standard Blade.
