BRIGHTON – Four members of the family of a former Fort Lupton High School wrestler were hurt Oct. 25 after a three-car crash in Brighton.

Anthony DeLeon’s mother, Yesenia DeLeon Sanchez, his father, Johnny, and his two sisters, Monique and Jazmin, were in the hospital Oct. 30.

They were among six people who sustained injuries in the crash near U.S. Highway 85 and 144th Avenue. Helicopters took two of the victims to area hospitals. Ambulances took the remaining patients to other area hospitals.

Witnesses told police one of the cars was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes before the crash happened. At first, authorities thought a small child had been thrown from the crash. Bradley said the bystanders helped the youngster from the vehicle. Police continued to investigate.

DeLeon finished second in the state 4A wrestling finals at 103 pounds in 2010. He was third in the state tournament in 2009.

According to a Facebook post, the family needs financial support for the hospital bills. Send donations to “Sanchez Family Donations” at Wells Fargo Bank in Brighton (account No. 8672063404). There is a link for donations at www.gofundme.com.
