Levi Nelson graduates Marine Corps boot camp

    Pfc. Levi S. Nelson, 18, of Brighton, graduated Oct. 18 from the United State Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
    Pfc. Nelson successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego as one of 83 recruits in Platoon 1053, Company C, 1st Recruit Training Battalion.

    While in recruit traning, Pfc. Nelson successfully compelted numerous hours of physical exercise, classroom instruction and field assignments. This education included training in first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, assorted weapons training and hand-to-hand combat.
    Pfc. Nelson and fellow recruits ended the training phase with the Crucible, a 72-hour mental and physical challenge.
    Following 10 days home on live, Pfc. Nelson reported to Camp Pendleton for a month of Military Combat Training. He will then begin additional training at Military Occupation Specialty school in Fr. Leonard Wood, Mo.
    Pfc. Nelson is a 2013 graduate of Brighton High School and the son of John Nelson and Tia Struck, both of Brighton.
