A new Holiday Inn Express is coming to Brighton’s Prairie Center shopping district.

The 88-unit hotel will join two other IHG hotels in the area - Candlewood Suites, 2204 Medical Center Drive, and the existing Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 2180 S. Medical Center Drive, which is expected to be remodeled and converted into a Comfort Inn and Suites.

The new, multi-million dollar Holiday Inn Express will follow sleek, modern design standards to target a younger demographic, said Todd Brummond, partner of Trisimo Development.

“We like to be near traffic generators,” Brummond said. “With the development of the Prairie Center and all the restaurants coming in the last few months, as well as future development, there’s attraction to the site.”

The hotel is scheduled to be complete by December 2018. The franchise agreement with the current Holiday Inn Express expires in 2019. An approximately $2 million, two-month remodel will begin in January 2019 to create the new Comfort Inn and Suites hotel, officials said.

An increasing number of oil and gas industry lodgers are looking for places to stay in city as the industry continues to recover, economic development officials say. Recently erected hotels like the Fairfield Inn and Suites, 948 Platte River Blvd. and others nearby serve the entire industry including the Vestas Blades America Inc. plant, which makes wind turbine blades, Brummond said.

“We very much rely on oil and gas,” Brummond said. “And we’re adding for the growing community too.”
