FORT COLLINS – The season for the Brighton High School girls soccer team came to a heartbreaking end in the opening round of the Class 5A state playoff tournament.

The No. 23-seeded Bulldogs held their own against No. 10 Rocky Mountain, but fell 1-0 to the Lobos on May 9.

Stephanie Muchow scored the lone goal in the first half for Rocky Mountain, but it was the Lobos' suffocating defense that was the story of the contest.
