BRIGHTON -- Two crashes injured one person and kept rescue crews busy Aug. 23 in Brighton.

A woman escaped serious injuries after her car overturned on Brighton Road. It happened around 9:15. Police said the car left the roadway twice and almost hit oncoming cars. The car narrowly missed several rocks and a large tree.

The unidentified driver was in a local hospital at midafternoon. Photographer John Carr said the driver admitted to police she texting while she was driving.

The second crash was on Riverdale Road near Yosemite Street. Authorities found a stolen late-model pick-up truck in a water-filled ditch. Police said the driver's side door was open, but no one was around the scene when rescuers arrived. At midafternoon, the driver had not been located. The truck was stolen in Brighton earlier in the morning, police said./
