         Army Pvt. Audrey M. Major graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
         She is the daughter of Christopher Major and Melony Major of Brighton. The private is a 2010 graduate of Brighton High School.

    Russ and Tammy Carr, of Brighton, proudly announce the engagement of their son, Marshall Thomas Carr, to Jennifer Elizabeth Clark, of Fort Collins.
        Marshall is a 2007 graduate of Brighton High School. He attends Colorado State University where he is majoring in health and exercise science and is employed by Coca Cola Enterprises.

  • Benefit planned for family of late Brighton business owner

    Friends have planned a benefit Sunday for the family of late Brighton business owner Jerry Norris.
        Norris, general manager of the Napa Auto Parts store in Brighton, died Sept. 16. He was 60.

  • Vigil graduates basic training

        Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Matthew J. Vigil graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
       Vigil is a 2010 graduate of Brighton High School. He is the son of Suzan and Paul Vigil, of Brighton.

  • Special People: Platte Valley Ambulance honors paramedics, EMTs

    It takes somebody special to show up at your mom’s house in the middle of the night, calm her panic, give her the right medicine for her chest pain and then preserve her warmth, comfort and dignity all the way to the hospital.
        Colorado’s Emergency Medical Services Director, Randy Kuykendall, was on hand to help Platte Valley Ambulance Service of Brighton single out a few of it’s own special people at the agency’s annual awards banquet last week.

  • Brighton father, daughter tackle grueling annual bike race together

    The 25th anniversary of Ride the Rockies was the most difficult ride in the history of the rides. It was the longest, 532 miles, through harsh terrains and inclement weather. A total of 2,200 bicycle enthusiasts came from the U.S. and countries beyond to participate in the 2010 ride from June 13-19.

        This year had the added featured of fathers and daughters participating. Brighton was well represented by Eigoro Horiuchi and daughter, Keya Lea Horiuchi.
