  • Eagle View Adult Center to close week of July 30

    The Eagle View Adult Center will close for annual maintenance the week of July 30. Staff won’t be available during this time.

    The maintenance includes cleaning and other projects. The center reopens Monday, Aug. 6. Call 303-655-2075.

  • Smart Irrigation Month in July

    Brighton is celebrating Smart Irrigation Month. It’s a public awareness campaign to promote efficient water use, and it lasts the rest of the month.

    The city will host a free seminar from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at the Eagle View Adult Center, 1150 Prairie Center Parkway. It will discuss efficient water use, including irrigation technologies to drip irrigation installation and maintenance. Demonstrations and giveaways are also on the agenda.

  • Funnel Cake fun run Aug. 4

    A fundraiser for Adams County foster kids steps off at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Adams County Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Road, Brighton. It’s the 2018 Funnel Cake 5K Race and one-mile fun run.

  • Fundraiser for police officer July 28

    A fundraiser for Brighton Police Officer Anna Cuney will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Colorado Clays, 13600 Lanewood St., Brighton.

    Cuney has breast cancer. Proceeds help her medical expenses.

    Registration starts at 9 a.m. It’s $70 per entry. Lunch will be available for all participants.

    There will be a raffle, too. Cost is $20 each or $80 for five tickets.

  • Meet Brighton City Council members July 12

    Brighton City Council members Mary Ellen Pollack and Greg Mills will be outside to meet with residents at the Brighton Recreation Center, 555 North 11th Ave. at 6:30 p.m. Thursday July 12, to talk about what’s happening in Brighton.

  • AdCo Fair parade returns July 28

    The Adams County Fair Parade returns in time for the 114th annual county fair. This year’s parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, on Main Street in Brighton. The fair begins Aug. 1 and runs for five days and nights.

  • PVMC medic academy through Aug. 22

    Platte Valley Ambulance Service is offering its first citizen medic academy Wednesdays (and some Saturdays) from July 11 through Aug. 22. 

    It’s a free chance to learn about the area’s ambulance service. Participants will be certified in CPR and first aid. 

  • Traffic signal box transformation; deadline for entries is Aug. 31

    Help transform Adams County traffic signal boxes with pictures. 

    Enter your best photos in the county’s Summer Photo Contest. Send high-resolution, scenic, Adams County photos to photocontest@adcogov.org by Friday, Aug. 31, with your name, city and where the photo was taken.


  • CASA holds fundraiser for kids July 19

    Enjoy an evening of fine wine, desserts and fun for charity at “Indulge for CASA,” from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Balisteri Vineyards, 1946 E. 66th Ave. in Denver. 

    Tickets are $60, $75 after July 4, or $150 for a VIP pass. 

  • Take a spin on the speedway with Make-A Wish Foundation Aug. 5

    Enjoy a car show with a spin - the chance to take a lap on the Colorado National Speedway at Interstate 25 and Exit 232 in Erie.

    It’s part of the Wheels & Wishes fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. It’s ruins from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at the speedway.
