• Homyak to celebrate 90th birthday

        Kenneth Homyak will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception from 1 to 5 p.m., April 7, at Ribbons and Rainbows in Platteville.
        Ken was born March 31, 1922, to Mary and John Homyak on the Homyak farm. He graduated from College High School in 1939 and CSCE in 1946 with a school administrator degree. He was inducted in to the Army Air Corps in 1942, receiving his “wings” and second lieutenant rank in 1943.

  • Webb returns from deployment

        National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Daniel R. Webb has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
        Webb, the son of Jeanie L. Munday, of Charleston, W. Va., and Larry E. Webb, of Brighton, is a noncommissioned officer in charge of supply and logistics with the Headquarters Company, 1249th Engineer Battalion, Salem, Ore. He has served 24 years in the military. He is a 1986 graduate of Kentridge High School in Kent, Wash.

  • Sheahans celebrate 25th wedding anniversary

        Sten and Cynthia Trinidad-Sheahan celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary March 7.
        They were married March 7, 1987, on Cynthia’s 19th birthday, at her parents’ home across from Horseshoe Lake in Loveland. The couple grew up in Loveland and moved to Brighton 18 years ago. Sten is an electrician for Local Union 68 International Electricians and Cynthia is TOSA/DATA intervention specialist for Aurora Public Schools.

  • Egans to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

        William R. (Bill) and Mary Jo (Jo) Egan will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 1 p.m., Feb. 25, at the Brighton Elks Lodge, 101 N. Main St.
        The event is hosted by the couple’s children. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

  • Georgoulias finishes combat training

        Army National Guard Pvt. Gabriel A. Georgoulias has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
        Georgoulias is the son of Gloria Pal, of Commerce City. He is a 2011 graduate of Prairie View High School in Henderson.

  • Hart graduates basic training

          Air Force Airman Samuel B. Hart graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
          Hart is the brother of Gina Chapin, of Henderson, and son of Gigi Ackerman, of Great Falls, Mont. He is a 2010 graduate of Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls.
         The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Bunjes-Baker to wed

        Nancy Bunjes, of Thornton, and Dale Bunjes, of Cowley, Wyo., are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Alyssa Christine to Zachariah Courtney Baker, son of Tom and Sandy Baker, of Thornton.
        Alyssa is the granddaughter of Carol and the late Ed Nott, of Thornton, and L.A. and Kay Bunjes, of St Francis, Kan. Zachariah is the grandson of the late James G. Costan and the late Dolores L. Kroll.

  • Jacobucci graduates combat training

        Army National Guard Pvt. John F. Jacobucci has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
        During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

  • Simmerman concludes basic infantry training

        Army Pfc. Shawn M. Simmerman graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
        During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

  • Coleman-Evans to marry

        Marcia and Joe Coleman, of Brighton, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristi, to Britton Evans, son of Debbie and Mickey Evans, of Sylvania, Ga. The groom lives in Denver.

        The wedding is set for 5 p.m., May 5, 2012, in Sylvania.
