  • Ruth Elizabeth Sanderson

    Ruth Elizabeth Sanderson passed away on July 30, 2014, at Avamere Care Center in Brighton. Ruth was 95 years old.

    Ruth is survived by her brother, Robert Lambertson; her son Michael Sanderson; her grandsons, Forest Nealon, Aubrey Nealon, her granddaughter, Hannah Romero, and great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Rhodes. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

  • Jerome 'Jerry' Linnebur

    Jerome “Jerry” Linnebur, 64, of Roggen, passed away on July 20, 2014 at his home. He was born to Fred and Martha (Schauf) Linnebur. 

    Jerry is survived by his son, Jason Linnebur, of Brighton; seven siblings and many nephews and nieces.

    Memorial service was held on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, which handled the arrangements.

  • John Larry Matis

    John Larry Matis, 72, of Northglenn, passed away July 25, 2014, in Thornton. He was born to John and Ethel Matis.

    He is survived by his wife, Faye Matis; a son, Johnny Matis; four daughters, Lisa Gonzales, Kathy Dodd, Dianna Dodd and Tammy Lawrence; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

    Private services are planned. Erlinger Funeral Home of Brighton is handling the arrangements.

     

  • Helen Joyce (Abbott) Schmidt

    Helen Joyce (Abbott) Schmidt joined our Lord and Savior, on Monday, June 30, 2014, in Mesa, Ariz. She was born to Allen and Opal (Cowel) Abbott.

    Helen in survived by her husband, Ray; a son, Scot Schmidt; daughters Terri Schmidt and Robin (Fred) Lueck; four grandchildren, and numerous family members. 

    A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, for family and friends at the place she loved and was born, 43450 E. 160th Ave. Keenesburg.

     

  • Harold I. Edstrom

    Harold I. Edstrom, 89, of Greeley, passed away July 21, 2014, at home. He was born Sept. 28, 1924, in Brighton, to Edward Harold and Anne  Marie (Mathisen) Edstrom.

    Visitation was Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, Greeley. Services were Friday, July 25, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

  • Milton C. Wambolt

     Milton C. Wambolt, of Brighton and formerly of Cody, Wyo., died July 22, 2014, in Brighton. He was 79.

    He was born to Henry and Katherine (Koch) Wambolt.

    He is survived by three children, Larry (Julie), Sharon (Michael) Schaubs, and Deborah Fredrickson; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    Memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home. Interment followed at Mizpah Cemetery.

  • Jacqueline A. Monroe

    Jackie A. Monroe, of Brighton, went to be with our Lord on July 24, 2014.

    She was survived by her husband, Richard Monroe; her children, Nicolette and TJ Cox, Rylan Monroe, Kendra and Michael Burnett, and Jason Monroe; her mother, Sawa Hurrell, two sisters and numerous other beloved family members.

    Memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Crossroads Church, 10451 Huron St. in Northglenn.

  • Harvey Burkhardt

    Harvey Burkhardt, 82, of Brighton, passed away on June 24, 2014. He was born to Henry and Elizabeth (Walter) Burkhardt.

    Harvey is survived by his wife, Lucille (Pullano); his daughter Diane (Jim) DeVries; three grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and brother/sisters-in-law.

    A memorial interment service will be held Sept. 26, 2014, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

    Joseph Schiefelbein, 69, of Brighton, passed away July 21, 2014, in Thornton. He was born June 23, 1945, in Brighton, to Peter and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Schiefelbein and graduated from Brighton High School in 1963.

  • Case, ex-BHS wrestler, dies at home

    WELD COUNTY -- Lucas Case, a 2010 graduate of Brighton High School, died at home early July 23. He was 22.

    Weld County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sean Standridge said deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to a medical emergency shortly after 4 a.m. They found Case's body inside a home in the 12000 block of Weld County Road 4. Standridge said foul play is not suspected. The Weld County coroner will determine the exact cause of death.
