Commerce City police are seeking a suspect in the shooting death of a man that occurred early July 25. The slaying was the sixth homicide in the city this year. Last year, there were seven. In 2020, there were five.
When officers arrived on the scene July 25, they found an adult male had been shot. An ambulance transported him to an area hospital, but the man died of his injuries. The victim remains unidentified until relatives can be notified.
A police statement said three men in a dark-colored sedan confronted two adult males in front of a residence in the 5400 block of Leyden Street. Detectives say suspects stole their maroon 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with an extended cab. The vehicle, with license plate APHT32, also has a lift kit.
Police announced July 26 they recovered the vehicle, but they didn't say where. Nor did they have descriptions of the three suspects. Police said the three left the area in both the stolen truck and the sedan. Cmdr. Dennis Flynn said the second victim was not injured.
